Beauty & the Beach

Spring is just around the corner … and having (almost) survived my 2nd real Winter I couldn’t be more ready! So what does that mean? Swimsuit shopping! Boston is definitely a drastic change in weather from Florida’s all-year-around summer weather. Being able to just throw on a bikini and head for the hammock, pool, or beach is definitely something that I’ve missed. So in preparation for the warm weather I am about to endure, or shall I say embrace? I’ve begun hunting for the right bikini collection for my 2010 spring/summer. Now I typically stay exclusive to VIX Swimwear. Aside from their aesthetically pleasing prints, patterns, and textures they also compliment their suits with what I like to call “bikini jewelry”; beads, sequins, metal clasps, leather straps … their suits are just to die for! Delicious detailing as well as durability. But while browsing their collection on a newly discovered site, www.bestswimwear.com, I came across a featured brand, Beach Bunny, which excited me even more! Their lingerie inspired collection is a collaboration of girly, sexy, naughty & nice all sewn up into bikini (or monokini, whatever your preference). So I had to...

blow your top off

blow your top off

Sexy, wavy hair will always be popular. Unfortunately getting structured (not messy!) waves that are acceptable for the office or for that hot date tonight isn’t always easy. Thanks to the hair experts at blow, the new york blow dry bar, sexy waves are now effortlessly achieved with their blow wave maker light twisting lotion. blow directs to apply the product to freshly cleansed and conditioned hair. Divide hair into sections and work down shafts from root to ends. Blow dry, using fingers instead of a brush, twisting and twirling hair in sections as you blow dry. Smaller sections for tight curls, larger sections for soft waves. Although I’m sure this technique works amazingly, I never create curls or waves when my hair is clean. Unfortunately for me my hair won’t hold up waves if it’s just been washed. So on day old washed & blow dried hair I applied blow in sections. With a 1.5” curling iron I then wrapped thick pieces around the barrel. I have to say this product honestly gave me the best waves ever! I didn’t even have to use hairspray to hold the waves & my hair was left smelling delicious instead of like burnt oven which is what it usually smells like after...

Pause for the cause.

Between work, laundry, cooking, dog walks, & catching up on this week’s episode of ‘Ugly Bette,’ we often forget to think about what we can do to help others. There are so many amazing charities out there so I’ve decided to link a cause every week that I think is donate-worthy hoping to spark some giving out of readers. So if I link a cause that interests you, please donate. Even $1 makes a difference. This week’s cause? Birthday Wishes.  Their Mission? Birthday Wishes brings birthday parties to homeless children. Birthday Wishes recognizes the importance of a birthday in a child’s life and believes that the gift of a birthday celebration provides normalcy, joy and hope in these children’s otherwise unsettled lives. Fashion Week

Is anyone watching all the hoopla over upcoming Fashion Week? I think some of new collections look very feminine. I love some of new short, body hugging leather jackets mixed with the cute, sort of ruffled skirts. Saw an article in the NY Times yesterday showing sandals with socks — not too sure about that look. Would love to hear any comments. Share on Facebook
